Rev. Tukes is a native of Atlanta, born June 25, 1952, the fourth child
born to the late Eddie Hugh Tukes, Sr. and Carrie Mae Tukes. Rev.
Tukes has two brothers and one sister.
A graduate of Booker T. Washington High, Rev. Tukes received a
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology from Saint Leo University,
Saint Leo, Florida. Rev. Tukes also attended Morris Brown and
Morehouse Colleges. He has attended The Interdenominational
Theological Center, Phillips School of Theology pursuing a Master
of Divinity Degree.
Rev. Tukes is currently a First Lieutenant with the Georgia State Defense Force. He is a former
Army Enlisted Member and Officer, having spent ten years of honorable service.
A Vietnam Era Veteran, Rev. Tukes has served his country twice in Germany, Bangkok
Thailand, Okinawa Japan and in twelve duty stations in eight different states.
Rev. Tukes has served on the Board of Directors of the Toccoa, Georgia Boys and Girls Club
and an Area Member of the Boy Scouts of America. He is a member of various local and civic
Rev. Tukes has been selected twice to serve as a Classroom Instructor for the White House’s
Presidential Classroom Program, which convenes each year in Washington, DC.
Rev. Tukes received a note of thanks from the Queen’s Navy (England), for his generous service
and assistance to her members, when they visited America during the Bicentennial.
He was employed with the Department of Treasury for 22 years.
Rev. Tukes was called into the ministry thirty eight years ago. He was an Assisting Minister and
Pastor in the Baptist Denomination for the major portion of his ministry. He is the former pastor
of Bethel Grove and Linden Shorts Christian Methodist Episcopal Churches. He is currently the
Pastor of the Fairview Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, located at 3274 Taylors Mills
Road, Fort Valley, Georgia.
